    • EarlyWorks - Hands-On Space History, Open  9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
      • On Saturday, January 26th, the Earlyworks Children’s Museum will be participating in the celebration commemorating the 50th anniversary of Explorer 1, America’s first satellite. Model spacecraft, from the Explorer 1 to the Space Shuttle, will be on display in the Rotunda and theater, and NASA staff will be on hand to talk about the history of spaceflight and to give demonstrations of actual space flight material.  A presentation of Walt Disney’s “Tomorrow the Moon”, featuring Dr. Werner von Braun, will be showing in the Grisham Theater. Hours of operation will be from 9am to 4pm. There is no charge to participate in the special NASA activities, but regular admission will be in effect for the main museum area.
         
    • Rockin' Rockets at Sci-Quest, Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
      • Bring the family and learn about flight as you build and launch your own straw and stomp rockets. Watch your creations soar through the air and learn how they do it. We’ll also do some great activities with balloons. While you’re at Sci-Quest don’t miss our new Roaming Dome, an immersive planetarium. We’ll be showing Secret of the Cardboard Rocket and Saturn, The Ring World. This will also be the first day to experience Motion Commotion our new traveling exhibit. The stars of the exhibit are the PlayMotion! walls where you only need your body and imagination to play soccer, billiards or become a snowman. Don’t miss the fun for the whole family.

    • Von Braun Astronomical Society - Planetarium Show: "Explorer I & Race To The Moon"
      • Time: 7:30 p.m.
      • Join the Von Braun Astronomical Society on Saturday, Jan. 26th at 7:30 pm for a special planetarium program by Roy Young as part of Huntsville's 10 day count down to the 50th Anniversary of "America In Space"!

    • UAH Shelby Center for Science and Technology "Space History and Current Research"
      • Time: from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
      • UAHuntsville - Space age partners: The University of Alabama in Huntsville has played a crucial role in America's space exploration activities since the beginning of the space age. The university will host an open house on Sunday, January 27 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to display its long history in the space program as well as current research projects. The university seeks individuals who may be interested in contributing to an oral archive history being developed by UAHuntsville.
         
    • Botanical Garden - Plants in Space
      • Time: from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
      • Bring your children by the Huntsville Botanical Garden on January 27, between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. to make a fun Hydroponics project. Junior space enthusiasts will learn why you simply can't plant a seed in a pot and blast off to Mars. No reservations necessary.
